about

The earth is shaking and the sea is turning green to red.

Angels singing as I’m turning over in my bed.

The ground is splitting open

darkness swells around me and I’m falling.

But I’m alive, I’m alive, I’m alive despite the evidence

of wreckage, broken pieces of a life that I once knew

and I cry, and I cry, and I cry for all my people

as we try to keep on living in this city of the dead.

Time is a drink of hope I hold up to my lips.

Faith I’m holding onto with my fingertips.

A silent prayer I offer humbly asking what to do

I’m falling. But I can feel the sunlight.

I can feel the sunlight shining through,

the breaks and the cracks in the wall.

I can feel the sunlight shining through

can feel the warmth of it all.
